Advanced Off-Grid Mesh Networking Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for Extreme or High-Threat Environments

What It Is: An advanced training course for end-users operating in extremely austere or high-threat environments who need TAK and off-grid communication capabilities to support exceptionally challenging or sensitive operational requirements. Building on the TAK 101 foundation, this course can be custom-made to provide advanced TTPs for a variety of extreme use-cases. This training course can include:

  • Aerial Vehicle Familiarization – How to use manned and unmanned aircraft systems to establish or extend mesh network range. This module includes an overview of the different methods in which goTenna solutions can be mounted aircraft, drones, and high-altitude balloons, and the supporting TTPs to maximize capability. Lastly, this module will demonstrate to the end-user how a drone can transport (pick-up, drop-off, and recover) mesh networking solutions to and from hard-to-reach locations to gain elevation advantages.
  • Augmented Reality (AR) – Instructors will demonstrate how a drone, integrated into TAK, can leverage augmented reality to see goTenna ProX2 end-users in an off-grid or disconnected environment, in the drone’s full motion video.
  • TTPs to Support Source Operations or Mitigate Electronic Warfare Threats– Students will receive TTP training to reduce electronic visibility using both goTenna products and end-user devices. This includes TTPs for end users who need low-visibility methods to communicate directly with confidential informants and other sources of information in an off-grid capacity. Students may also receive radio frequency spectrum analyzation training, which can used to increase both communication and operational security.
  • Airborne Operations – The ProX2 mesh radio can enable a “jump mode” feature that provides enhanced situational awareness – rapid sharing of position location information – for end-users conducting airborne operations.
  • Utilizing Fixed Structures for Elevation Advantages – Instruction on how to use tall, fixed structures (e.g. fire towers, tall buildings) to establish or enhance a mesh network, along with best practices to deploy equipment and accessories.

Ideal Use Cases

  • Serving high risk arrest warrants
  • Combating wildland fires, including smokejumper operations
  • Human intelligence operations
  • Protective security detail operations
  • Operating in polar, desert, maritime, or dense vegetation areas

Course Length: 16-40 hours*

Prerequisite: TAK 101

*Scaled to customer needs.
