What Is TAK?
The Team Awareness Kit (TAK) is a cost-effective, government off-the-shelf (GOTS) solution that enables tactical data to be generated, visualized, and shared, facilitating communication across multiple users to achieve shared tactical awareness. Federal, State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (FSLTT) government agencies deploy geospatial information system (GIS)-based applications like TAK to support the complex communication and coordination needs of a multi-jurisdictional incident response, special events, and everyday law enforcement and fire operational needs.
TAK allows disparate organizations to effectively communicate and maintain shared tactical awareness when a disaster response or special event brings together organizations that do not communicate daily and need a quick and easy way to be able to do so.
goTenna BRIDGES THE DISCONNECTED ENVIRONMENT GAP
goTenna provides a range of communication solutions for TAK users when traditional communications (cellular, satellite, wi-fi) are degraded, overwhelmed, or just not unavailable. Serving high risk warrants, responding to active shooter and civil disturbance events, combating wildland fires, and responding to natural disasters are just a few use-cases where traditional communications are routinely unavailable.
goTenna transforms how operators connect during critical missions. goTenna accomplishes this by making ultra-low cost, size, weight, and power mesh radios. The goTenna Pro X2 radio connects to any mobile device (phones, tablets, etc.) via Bluetooth or USB tether, moving the most critical data over extremely long distances - up to 165 miles - fully encrypted. The data goTenna moves includes text messaging, position location information, sensor data, and internet of things data. goTenna manages this data with TAK, the goTenna Pro App, and other 3rd party mobile applications. goTenna accomplishes this independent of traditional communications – a true off-the-grid communication solution.
